Tellepsen performed extensive project management, engineering support, and construction services to install one of the largest crude oil docks in the Gulf Coast Region. Project involved installation of new piperacks, piping systems, valving, loading/unloading and tie-ins to onshore pipelines.
Tasks included installation of 30 modular piperack sections preassembled with piping on the lower tier followed by pre-tested and insulated piping on the upper tier, power and lighting systems, piping and pipeline tie-ins, instrumentation and controls, along with ship/barge loading and unloading systems.
Tellepsen also assisted with installation of the VOC and Vapor management system for loading and unloading operations. As-builts of working drawings were developed for piping systems, structures, power distribution systems, instrumentation, communications, and controls.
Project was managed working with multiple contractors in coordination of all construction disciplines in order to meet the client’s tight completion schedule. Models were developed to facilitate construction interference issues and tie-ins of the new systems.
Key Project Challenges
- Tight schedule
- Special requirements coordinating with multiple contractors in a congested area
- Coordination for tie-in to onshore systems and facilities
- Installation of new loading/unloading equipment
- Over 30 modular sections of pipe rack assembled with piping installed on lower level in Orion Yard and upper level piping pre-insulated and installed at final location
