District Energy

Tellepsen Industrial provides planning, design and construction management services for the development and installation of chilled water & utility networks.  Scope of services includes the design and installation of pipelines under streets, roads, walkways, and structures to furnish chilled water and utilities to buildings and developments which requires extensive coordination with public and private utility companies and municipalities. Designs include pipeline networks that may be installed by shaft and tunnel or open cut methodology, along with engineered shoring and dewatering applications. Installations include fiber-optic telecommunication systems, traffic control systems, and utilities.

Tellepsen Industrial installs district energy systems that produce steam, hot water or chilled water at a central plant. The steam, hot water or chilled water is then piped underground to individual buildings for space heating, domestic hot water heating and air conditioning. As a result, individual buildings served by a district energy system don’t need their own boilers or furnaces, chillers or air conditioners. The district energy system does that work for them, providing valuable benefits including:

  • Improved energy efficiency
  • Enhanced environmental protection
  • Fuel flexibility
  • Ease of operation and maintenance
  • Reliability
  • Comfort and convenience for customers
  • Decreased life-cycle costs
  • Decreased building capital costs
  • Improved architectural design flexibility
